Hundreds Bid Emotional Adieu To Subrata Roy, Cremated At Baikunth Dham

Lucknow, November 17 (TNA) Founder of the fledgling Sahara India Pariwar, Subrata Roy was given a tearful send off on Thursday evening when his grandson lit the funeral pyre and conducted his last rites at the Baikunth Dham crematorium in the state capital. The 75-year-old businessman passed away at the Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday night after a prolonged battle with blood cancer.

His body had been flown in to Sahara Shahr in Lucknow on Wednesday evening after which it was kept there for people, company workers, friends and well wishers to pay their last respects. Hundreds and thousands of people accompanied the hearse vehicle on the last journey of Sahara Sri as he was called by workers of the company.

Prominent among those who were present at the crematorium included former UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, OP Srivastava, Pramod Tiwari, Raj Babbar and a host of bureaucrats and politicians.
