Honour Killing Jolts Mainpuri: Woman Shot Dead By Uncle, Husband Critical

Mainpuri, April 26 (TNA) In a tragic case of honour killing, a young woman was shot dead by her family members in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh and her husband also shot in the head. He is critical and has been admitted at the Saifai Medical University. The assailant was the brother of the woman and her uncle. They barged into her home on Tuesday and opened indiscriminate fire.

Komal Khatik(22), a resident of Mohalla Bharatwal of Kotwali area, had a love marriage with Karan Goswami on April 20. It is alleged that the girl's brother Karan, uncle Dilip, Ravindra and Shani were angry with this. On Tuesday evening, around 4 pm, Komal's brother Karan and all three uncles entered the house through the terrace.

Komal died on the spot due to bullet injuries. The assailants injured the youth's mother Pinky and brother Rocky by beating them with the butts of the pistol. After getting the information, SP Ashok Kumar Rai inspected the spot and reached the hospital and inquired about the matter from the injured. Three teams have been formed, soon the accused will be arrested and sent to jail, the district police chief said.
