High-Technology Welding Machine To Be Used For Track Work In Agra Metro Project
Agra, March 4 (TNA) As the work on the ambitious Agra Metro Rail project picks up, the track work in Agra Metro Depot will be done with the help of a high technology, ultra modern imported welding machine, an official said on Friday.
The machine works on Flash Butt welding technique and without using any other welding material, it induces electric shock for joining or welding the rails with each other. The testing of this machine is in its final stage and welding work will commence very soon.
According to MD Uttar Pradesh Metro Kumar Keshav, Flash Butt welding technique has an advantage over traditional alumino-thermic welding method when it comes to welding long rail tracks. The welding can be done in relatively less time and more efficiently.
Usually it takes around 50 minutes to weld together two rails, but using flash butt technology the time gets reduced to 15 minutes. The machine is fully automatic and will be lifted through a crane machine to weld tracks on the viaduct (elevated track).
There will be two kinds of rail tracks- 13 metres long and 18 metres long which will be used for Agra Metro Rail Project.
