High Court Denies Bail To Convicted Legislator Khabbu Tiwari

Lucknow, December 14 (TNA) The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has rejected the bail application of Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari, a BJP MLA from Gosaiganj Assembly in Ayodhya district. The former MLA was sentenced on October 18 by a sessions court in Ayodhya to five years in a 29-year-old criminal case.

While hearing the bail application filed along with the appeal, a single bench of Justice Sangeeta Chandra refused to grant bail to Khabbu Tiwari. Due to being convicted, the assembly membership of Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari has already been canceled.

In 1992, the Principal of Saket Mahavidyalaya had lodged an FIR against Indra Pratap alias Khabbu Tiwari at the Ram Janmabhoomi police station regarding taking admission on the basis of fake marksheets. In this case, the Additional Sessions Judge of Ayodhya found Khabbu guilty on 18 October 2021 and sentenced him to five years imprisonment.
