Heavy Rains Leave 9 Dead In Lucknow, Victims Include Three Kids

Lucknow, Sep 16 (TNA) Heavy rains that have been lashing the state capital and neighbouring areas for the past 24-hours has left 13, including five children, dead and many injured. Many areas of the city are facing severe waterlogging and low lying areas are inundated with rain water. In Dilkusha area of Lucknow Cantt, 9 people have been killed. This includes 3 children. All of them died when an under-construction wall caved in due to overnight rains.

According to the CMO, SDRF has been called in to rescue people, but off and on rains is a big problem as they try to move ahead with the rescue operations. Of the deceased, four are men, three women and three children. Unnao district also witnessed big damages due to heavy rainfall where 3 people including 2 children died as a boundary wall collapsed.

District Magistrate has announced Rs 4-4 lakhs for the kin of deceased. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is expected to visit Civil Hospital to meet the injured people later in the day.

All the schools till class XII have been closed for the day and both the morning and afternoon sessions of the semester exams of the Lucknow University have been cancelled.
