Girl Student Suicide In Navodaya Vidyalaya Mainpuri: Govt Suspends Two Cops After Rap By Allahabad High Court

Prayagraj, Sep 15 (TNA) Following a terse and scathing observations by the Allahabad High Court (HC) in a case pertaining to the case of hanging of a student of a Navodaya Vidyalaya girl student in Mainpuri, the Uttar Pradesh government late Wednesday night suspended the then ASP of Mainpuri Om Prakash Singh and the then circle officer (CO) Prayank Jain.

While Singh is currently the ASP Etah, Jain is the circle officer of Bhadohi. The move came after the Allahabad High Court earlier in the day considered the explanation of the State Police Chief (DGP) Mukul Goel as unsatisfactory in the case of hanging a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Mainpuri.

The court has directed the DGP to take action against the superintendent of police. The High Court asked the DGP in a stern tone that the Superintendent of Police should be removed or forcibly retired. The court also saw the video recording of the Panchnama after the student's hanging and expressed strong displeasure over the attitude of the police.

However, in the post-mortem report, no injury was found on the body except for the hanging mark. Panchnama is not photography. The public prosecutor told that SP Mainpuri has been transferred. Departmental inquiry has been initiated.

A division bench of Acting Chief Justice MN Bhandari and Justice AK Ojha, while hearing a PIL filed in this case, on Wednesday expressed strong displeasure over the attitude of the police and said that the DGP should be present in the court on Thursday with full preparation.

The division bench said that the post-mortem report shows that there has been tampering. The hanging marks around the neck are raising suspicion. DGP should take action otherwise the court will take strict action. The hearing will continue tomorrow. The court also said that the DGP should not leave Prayagraj till the hearing on Thursday and directed the DGP to come to the court with full preparation.

The court observed that the accused were not interrogated despite serious allegations. The investigator also did not specify the reason for the delay. The girl was found hanging in the school. The mother has made a serious allegation of harassing and beating and hanging.

On September 16, 2019, a minor girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Mainpuri. In this incident, a case has been registered on behalf of the father against five people including a student of the school. The investigation of this case is being conducted by SIT headed by IG Kanpur Mohit Agarwal on the instructions of CM Yogi Adityanath.

SP Mainpuri Ajay Kumar has conducted polygraph tests of 21 people so far. Blood samples have been taken for DNA testing of 12 people.
