Free Eye Care Camps Commemorating Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Held In Lucknow

Lucknow, April 19 (TNA) Free eye check-up and eyeglasses distribution camps were organised across Lucknow on Sunday in memory of former Union Minister, former Mayor of Lucknow, and Founder of the Babu Banarsi Das Group, the late Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta. The initiative was led by his son, Viraj Sagar Das, President of the BBD Group and President of the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association.

As part of the programme, a camp was set up at Nai Basti Maidan in Udayganj, Lucknow, where free eyeglasses were distributed to the underprivileged in the presence of Councillor Amit Chaudhary, representing the Mahatma Gandhi-Vikramaditya Ward. Another similar camp was arranged at Pani Tanki Park in Rajendra Nagar under the leadership of Councillor Rajesh Dixit, benefiting a large number of residents.

Speaking on the occasion, Viraj Sagar Das underlined how his father devoted his life to public service and social welfare. He added that serving the last person in society was at the heart of Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta’s vision, and initiatives like these are a way of carrying forward his legacy.

He further stated that the Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta Foundation is continuously working in the fields of education, healthcare, and sports for the benefit of all sections of society. Residents actively participated in the camps and appreciated the initiative, describing it as a meaningful step towards public welfare.
