Four PNB Officials In Kanpur Suspended As Rs 42 Lakh Go Missing From Currency Chest

Kanpur, Sep 16 (TNA) Four officials associated with Punjab National Bank have been suspended for a major irregularity in the currency chest made in the Pandu Nagar branch. One of these four officials, is presently posted in Unnao's Jawahar Nagar branch and was earlier posted in the Currency Chest.

In July 2022, the Reserve Bank had inspected the currency chest of Punjab National Bank at Pandu Nagar, Kanpur. In this, during the investigation, the audit team found that there are less notes in the boxes. Apart from this, moisture was found in some boxes and they were opened.

During investigation, Rs 42 lakh were found short in currency chests and notes were found wet due to water seeping into many boxes. The audit team had expressed its displeasure over this.
