Four Drown In Varanasi As Boat Capsizes In Ganga

Varanasi, May 23 (TNA) In a big mishap in the holy city of Varanasi, four people drowned on Monday at the Prabhu Ghat. The mishap happened when the boat they were travelling in capsized in the Ganga. While six people started drowning, people on the banks jumped in to help and managed to save two. Three bodies have been fished out while one person is still missing.

Search is on for the missing youth. These persons had come to visit Kashi from Tundla. According to the people present at the spot, everyone drank alcohol before going for a ride on the boat.

According to ADCP Kashi Zone, Keshav Kumar (32), Pawan (27), resident of Tundla Firozabad, were saved but Anas (20), Imamuddin (30) as well as sailor Shani (32), resident of Bhadaini, drowned. 36-year-old Sanjay is still missing. The UP chief minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2-2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
