Four Days After The Inferno Gutted The Kanpur Textile Market, Fire Finally Doused

Kanpur, April 3 (TNA) Four days after an inferno gutted hundreds of shops in Kanpur, the fire was finally brought udner control on Monday after a gruelling 84-hour-long fireighting by firemen, teams of NDRF and local police. Soon after the blaze was doused, a survey was conducted by teams of KDA, Municipal Corporation, PWD and NDRF.

A team from IIT-Kanpur is also likely to do a survey in the evening to assess the damage done to the building in the fire. Kanpur Police Commissioner BP Jogdand confirmed that now the last of the flames had been put off and the entire garment market had no fire left.

The fire was finally controlled with the help of three hydraulic platform machines requisitioned from Lucknow, Prayagraj and Agra. Ten electric cutters and smoke extractors were also pressed into service to bring under control the fire.
