Former IPS Amitabh Thakur Accused Of Seeking Rs 50 Lakh From Land Dealer, He Trashes Charges As Fabricated

Lucknow, August 4 (TNA) A case has been filed against former IPS Amitabh Thakur by a land dealer, accusing him of seeking Rs 50 lakh. The case has been put up in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Varanasi, after which a detailed report has been sought by the court from the Chetganj police station.

Ten people, including former IPS Thakur, have been accused of threatening a land dealer and demanding Rs 50 lakh from him. Vikas Singh, a resident of Sarai Gobardhan, has filed a petition in the court under section 156-3 of the IPC.

Vikas Singh is a director of Nilgiri Infrastructure Company. He has accused Amitabh Thakur that his company deals in buying and selling lands and that money was taken on interest from many people for purchase of lands. He has further alleged Amitabh Thakur along with them is threatening to implicate him in a false lawsuit and is demanding Rs 50 lakh.

Thakur, known for his integrity and for his activism, which even cost him his career as a police officer, as the government forcibly premature retired him, has however refuted the allegations.

Trashing the allegations, he said the whole thing has been conspired by Vikas Singh after he facilitated the lodging of an FIR against the Niligiri company in favour of hapless investors.

In a tweet, he further said that not only will he file a case against Singh for fabricating charges against him but will also ensure that the hapless investors get their money back from the Niligiri company.
