Flight Operations At Lucknow Airport To Be Disrupted From March 1 To July 15 Due To Runway Repair Work
Lucknow Feb 11 (TNA) Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Amausi) will undergo major runway resurfacing work from March 1 to July 15, affecting flight operations during the day. During this period, flights will only operate between 7 PM and 9 AM, impacting nearly 70 flights daily. Airlines have begun rescheduling operations, affecting over 25,000 advance bookings.
According to the airport spokesperson, the runway surface will be completely reconstructed. The last resurfacing was done in 2018, covering a 2,744-meter-long and 45-meter-wide runway along with a 7.5-meter shoulder on both sides.
Now, a total of 1.80 lakh square meters, including the runway and taxiway, will be re-carpeted. A new full-length taxiway will be constructed to facilitate faster aircraft movement. Additionally, Taxiway P-9 will be built, and airfield ground lighting (AGL) will be upgraded from halogen to LED, reducing electricity consumption by about 50%.
The new runway will allow larger cargo planes to land, enhancing passenger facilities. The airport’s capacity has already increased with Terminal-3, and ongoing upgrades to Terminals 1 and 2 will further boost capacity. Airlines have been notified, and flight schedules have been updated on websites, with some flights canceled, including 12 by IndiGo.
