Five Killed In Rain-Related Incidents In Prayagraj, Downpour Derails Normal Life
Prayagraj, Sep 17 (TNA) At least five people have been killed in rain-related mishaps in the holy city of Prayagraj, an official said on Friday. Normal life has completely been disrupted as there are reports of house collapses, caving in of roads, falling of trees and electricity poles, wires and rain water entering homes in many residential colonies.
There have been long power outages in many areas and a two-storey house collapsed in Muthiganj area. A woman died after being buried under the rubble of the house, while her son was badly injured. A house has also collapsed in Koraon.
One death has been reported in Mauaima. During heavy rains, a two-storey pucca house collapsed in Kachari village in Shankargarh, Prayagraj. In this incident, two people who were guarding the farm house lost their lives.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain like this till 30 September. There will be a possibility of rain with strong winds in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Similar rains are expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next few days. According to the weather forecast, it will continue to rain intermittently till September 30. Strong wind speed reaching 22 kmph to 40 kmph will continue.
