Five Drown While Bathing In Sangam, Search Operation Underway

Prayagraj, June 5 (TNA) Five person have gone missing after drowning in the Sangam - the confluence of holy Ganga, Yamuna and the mystic Saraswati, while they were out for a bath. The accident happened around 6.30 in the evening.

Due to the sudden turn of the weather, a large number of people had reached Sangam Snan. According to eyewitnesses, during this time there was a strong storm and the flow intensified under the pressure of the wind. A total of nine people who were taking bath in the grip of the current started drowning.

The water police personnel and divers present at the ghat jumped into the river and saved four people, but five others drowned in the water in no time. On information, along with the Daraganj police, the SDRF team also reached and started searching for the drowned people. The search went on for about two and a half hours but to no success.

The missing people include Maheshwar Verma, Sumit Vishwakarma, Vishal Verma, Utkarsh Kumar Gautam, Abhishek Agrahari. They were students preparing for NDA, SSC
