Fire Breaks Out At Cardiology Hospital Building's ICU In Kanpur

Lucknow, March 28 (TNA) A massive fire broke out in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the cardiology hospital building in Kanpur on Sunday, police said. More than fifty patients and their attendants were reportedly trapped in the building even as seven fire tenders are working to douse the fire.

Patients are said to be safe now and they have been wheeled from inside the burning ICU, an official said. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and has directed officials to ensure safe evacuation of all patients and immediate care be given to them.

He has also asked for a report from the district administration and directed that a high level team comprising of Princial Secretary Health, Education and DG Fire should visit the site later in the day and give its report immediately, a top-ranking official of the state government said.
