Felix Hospital Noida Bribery Scandal: CBI Arrests Key Officials
Noida, March 19 (TNA) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested retired Army Major Ashish Shakya, a medical officer at an Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) polyclinic in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, and Bijendra Singh, Assistant General Manager at Noida-based Felix Hospital, in a high-profile ₹3 lakh bribery case.
The duo was nabbed during a trap operation where the bribe amount, allegedly paid for referring patients to the empanelled private hospital without medical necessity, was recovered, along with incriminating documents from searches in Noida, Etah, Firozabad, and Farrukhabad.
According to the CBI FIR, Shakya conspired with Felix Hospital executives Sumit Gupta and Rohit Aggarwal to demand large bribes for patient referrals post-Holi on March 4, insisting on immediate clearance to share with seniors and subordinates.
This exposes systemic corruption in ECHS-empanelled facilities, prompting further probes under anti-corruption laws. Felix Hospital, located in Sector 137, Noida, faces scrutiny amid prior complaints of fake reports and negligence.
