Enraged At Hathras Rape Incident, Priyanka Gandhi Asks Yogi: What Type Of A Chief Minister Are You?

LUCKNOW || Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday lashed out at Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath over the Hathras gang-rape incident and the many subsequent incidents. In a video message, she said that the whole episode reflected how "inhumane the UP government was".

Where was the chief minister and his government when this 19-year-old was brutally gang raped, tortured and assaulted, it took the chief minister 15 long days to open up his mouth on the tragedy, she said while pointing out on how, all now that the saffron-robed chief minister has spoken, is that after the prime minister called him up on Wednesday morning he has constituted a three-member SIT.

"What were you waiting for all these days, for the prime minister to call you?" she questioned while adding on how it was tragic that not only was the rape victim initially attended to, nor was she treated properly at the medical facility and was sent to Delhi only a day back, where she succumbed on Tuesday.

It is a shame that crimes against women are shooting through the roof in UP and the lame duck administration has done nothing, she said further. The fact that the family of the victim was not even allowed to see her for one last time nor her father was allowed to set her pyre on fire, Vadra said, showed how the state government was functioning.

She ended by asking Adityanath on what type of a chief minister was he?
