Elections Of Awadh Bar Association To Be Held On Wednesday
Lucknow, August 24 (TNA) The Awadh Bar Association elections would be held on Wednesday, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court directed on Tuesday. The court had taken suo motu cognisance of the case relating to the election of the lawyers body.
The bench of Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh pronounced the judgment in an open court. Owing to "unruly behaviour and ugly display" by the candidates and supporters during the elections of the Awadh Bar Association of the High Court, Lucknow, the returning officer cancelled balloting scheduled on August 14.
In a statement issued by Vinod Kumar Shahi, the Returning Officer of the Election 2021, had nformed that not clearing the designated polling areas and influencing the voters was a big reason for the cancellation of the polling.
He had also said that the COVID protocol was not being followed and neither were the candidates paying heed to the instructions of the RO.
