Eight From Pilibhit Killed In A Road Mishap In Varanasi

Varanasi, Oct 4 (TNA) In a major tragedy, eight persons were killed in a road mishap in Varanasi on Wednesday, police said. They were killed in a collision between a car and a truck in Surahi village. All the deceased have been identified as residents of Pilibhit. According to the information, all had come to Varanasi for darshan and worship and were returning back home.

As soon as information about the incident was received, top officials reached the spot. An official informed media persons that a speeding Ertiga car rammed into the back of a truck moving ahead in Surhi village on the Varanasi-Lucknow highway at around four in the morning. An eight-year-old however miraculously survived the car crash and has been admitted at a medical facility in critical condition.

“All the deceased are residents of village Muzaffarnagar Post Office Dudhiakhurd police station Puranpur of Pilibhit” a senior police officer said. The deceased include Vipin Yadav (32), Ganga Devi (48), Mahendra Pal (43), Chandrakali (40), Damodar Prasad (35), Nirmala Devi (32) and five-year-old son Shanti Swaroop. UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a road accident in Varanasi district.
