Drive Launched Against Loudspeakers At Religious Places In UP, More Than 3,000 Removed

Lucknow, November 28 (TNA) A campaign against noise pollution was launched on Monday in all the districts of UP. During this time, the sound of loudspeakers installed at religious and public places was checked and if it was found to be excessive, action was taken.

On the instructions of the government, on Monday from 5 am to 7 pm, checking teams were formed in all the districts of the state to check illegal loudspeakers installed at religious places and public places. 61399 loudspeakers were checked in fourteen hours.

The volume of 7288 loudspeakers was found contrary to the standards and was reduced. 3238 loudspeakers operating contrary to the standards and exceeding the prescribed decibel limit were removed. Police teams warned with notices to keep the number and volume of loudspeakers below the standard.

A special campaign to remove loudspeakers from temples, mosques and gurudwaras was conducted on Monday in all five tehsil areas of Ambedkar Nagar district. During this period, 283 loudspeakers were deployed. Also warned that if loudspeaker is installed again, action will be taken against the concerned.

In Ayodhya district, under the leadership of SSP Rajkaran Nayyar, the police removed loudspeakers installed at religious places as part of a campaign at various places in the district. He also established dialogue with Ulama and religious leaders by getting loudspeakers removed near Chowk Ghantaghar.

In Rae Bareli, a campaign was launched to remove loudspeakers installed without permission in 18 police station areas. Under the campaign, 17 loudspeakers have been removed. Instructions were given that action would be taken if loudspeakers are installed again without permission.

SP said that 508 loudspeakers were checked at religious places across the district. In this, 17 loudspeakers were removed without permission. He said that following the instructions of the government, 21 people were instructed not to use loudspeakers.
