Digital Register For Real-time Attendance And Mid-Day Meals In UP’s Basic Schools From February 15

Lucknow, February 10 (TNA) There will be a digital register of real-time attendance and mid-day meals of students in basic schools of the state from February 15. The process of digitalizing about a dozen registers used in schools including real-time attendance of teachers in the state has been going on for the last few months.

Real-time attendance of students in basic, upper primary, composite and Kasturba Gandhi Girls schools in the state will have to be updated from February 15. Along with this, only a digital register of mid-day meals will also be valid. Regarding this, the Basic Education Department has issued detailed guidelines to all the BSAs of the state.

It said that teachers will record the attendance of children on school days from April 1 to September between 8 am to 9 am and from October 1 to March 31 from 9 am to 10 am through tablets/smartphones. At the same time, the details of the MDM beneficiaries, menu, food grains etc. will also be updated compulsorily every day after the meal. For this, the time has been fixed at noon from April 1 to September 31 and at 1.30 pm from October 1 to March 31.

The process of digitalizing about a dozen registers used in schools including real-time attendance of teachers in the state has been going on for the last few months. The department gave instructions to implement this system in seven districts of the state including the capital Lucknow as a pilot project. In this, protests started against recording the attendance of teachers. Because of this other things also got put on hold.

Meanwhile, the government has made two tablets available in all the basic schools of the state. In this sequence, Director General of School Education Kanchan Verma has directed all BSAs, BEOs, DCTs, and DCs to start maintaining the student attendance register and mid-day meal register in council primary, upper primary, composite schools and Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools of all the districts from February 15. Only digital forms will be valid. He has said that online training has also been given for this in the past.
