BAGHPAT || A constable of the Delhi Police, who was shot at after being beaten mercilessly by criminals a day back, succumbed to his injuries at a medical facility on Tuesday. The constable Manish was critically injured when while returning from Delhi to his native village, he was ambushed by some four criminals near the gate of village Roshangarh and beaten up.

He was then shot as well. Manish was working as a traffic cop with the Delhi police. Villagers came to his rescue after hearing the gun shot but by that time the assailants had fled the crime scene.

He was taken to a community health centre but owing to his critical condition he was referred to Meerut where he died on Tuesday. His uncle Abhayram has filed a police complaint against four unnamed people.

Police said they were combing the area and strict vigil was underway to nab the culprits.
