Delhi-Howrah Rail Route Disrupted As 11 Coaches Of A Goods Train Derails in Etawah

Etawah, August 23 (TNA) Train movement on the important Delhi-Howrah rail route grinder to a halt on Monday evening as eleven coaches of a goods train derailed in Etawah. Officials said that the rail tracks suffered major damage due to the mishap and all the operations on the Howrah-Delhi route have since been stalled.

Many important trains on the important rail link are now stranded at different places and efforts are on to clear the rail track and it may take time till midnight to clear it, a railway official informed. A relief train has been sent from Tundla to the mishap site.

The goods train derailed between Jaswantnagar and Balrai railway stations, leading to suspension of rail traffic on the down track. After this accident, many big trains including Rajdhani had to be stopped. Soon after the accident, nearby villagers and top officials also reached the spot and efforts are on to restart the railway line.
