Covid Vaccine Trials Could Begin In Agra And Aligarh

AGRA || Agra’s SN Medical College could soon start trials of the Russian vaccine Sputinik and Cadilla’s Zydus. Dr Sanjay Kala, principal of the medical college said modalities were being discussed and a decision would be taken after November 10.

In Aligarh the Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College has invited a thousand volunteers to enrol for the large-scale clinical trials aimed at evaluating the safety and efficacy of Covaxine, Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech-led Coronavirus vaccine.

The clinical trials will begin from November 14 and continue till the end of January. During the human testing for the Covid vaccine at JNMC, the vaccine efficacy will be evaluated in different ways across the trial spectrum.

The earlier clinical trials will look for the production of antibodies against the virus, while the late-phase trials will evaluate whether the vaccine in fact prevents people from getting sick. These trials will provide a pivotal demonstration to assure people that the vaccine worked and was safe.
