Court Issues Warrant Against Senior Varanasi Police Officer, Orders Stopping His Salary

Lucknow, August 4 (TNA) A court has issued an arrest warrant against a senior officer of the Uttar Pradesh Police, currently posted as additional commissioner (ACP) in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of prime minister Narendra Modi. The court held the errant officer - Chakramani Tripathi, in contempt of court and has also sent a letter to the Varanasi Police to withhold his salary till further orders.

The matter pertains to a case of dowry death way back in November 11, 2016 in Bilari of Moradabad district. Hariram Singh, the father of the victim Neeraj, has accused her husband Chatrapal of killing his daughter for dowry. The matter was investigated d by the then CO Chakramani Tripathi.

The case is pending in the court of ADJ-2 Puneet Kumar Gupta of Moradabad. Seven witnesses have appeared in the case and testified. However, even after repeated summons sent to Tripathi, he did not present himself before the court, leading to the issuance of warrant against him. The next hearing is August 11.
