Corona's Second Wave Spins Out Of Control In UP, 4164 Fresh Cases And 31 Deaths In Last One Day

Lucknow, April 4 (TNA) The Coronavirus pandemic's second wave seems to be spinning out of control in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The state capital Lucknow is emerging as its epicentre with fresh cases growing manifold. As per information available, in the last 24-hours, 4164 new cases have been logged in the state. 31 deaths have also been reported.

Prominent among those who have been infected by the virus include Rakesh Kapoor, director of Medanta hospital and the DG (Health) Dr DS Negi, his staff officer and also his personal secretary. Incidentally Negi has been long back vaccinated. He took both doses of the Corona vaccine, an official told.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who is currently on a back-to-back election campaign in poll-bound West Bengal, before flying off to the coastal state on Sunday presided over a high-level meeting where he took stock of the new spike in the COVID cases. He has issued many directives to the authorities and has stressed on the need of mandatory wearing of masks.

Authorities have been mandated to ensure that masks are worn by people when in public, specially those who are driving cars, auto rickshaws, public transport buses. The chief minister also stressed on the need of increasing the number of RTPCR tests being done in the state and asked officials to ensure that proper screening of everyone coming from other states is conducted.
