Corona Continues To Rage In UP, 15353 Fresh Cases And 67 Deaths In Last 24-Hours

Lucknow, April 11 (TNA) Despite claims and efforts of the state government, UP is in the throes of an unprecedented health scare with the state reporting a whopping 15353 cases in the past 24-hours.

This is the highest ever and many many times more than the highest in the state since the pandemic broke in March last year. The state also reported 67 deaths in the past one day, with maximum fatalities - 31- being reported from the state capital Lucknow.

The city of nawabs reported a worrying 4444 cases in a single day on Sunday and it seems that the night lockdown between 9pm to 6 am is also not working as a deterrent.

The deaths in the state capital since March last year now stands at 1332 though the state government says the exact reason of these deaths will be determined later by an audit.

Among the districts reporting lowest cases are Maharajganj (19), Kushinagar (31), Hapur (42), Mainpuri (25), Pilibhit (18), Auraiyya (37), Fatehpur (15), Siddharthanagar (17) and Kasganj reported the lowest with just six cases in the last 24-hours.

Situation in prime minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency - Varanasi, is precarious, with the holy city reporting 1740 cases in a single day, which is the second highest in the state after Lucknow.

One death has been reported from Varanasi, while 9 deaths have been reported from Prayagraj, which has logged 1565 (the third highest) in the state in the past 24-hours.

Gorakhpur - the karmbhoomi of chief minister Yogi Adityanath has 390 fresh cases, Bareilly (221), Moradabad (188), Jhansi (291), Ballia (222), Rae Bareli (210) and Chandauli 214.
