Consumer Body Slaps Fine Of Rs 5.21 Lakh On Prayagraj Hospital

Prayagraj, Sep 2 (TNA) In a landmark decision, the State Consumer Commission has slapped a Rs 5.21 lakh fine on Amardeep hospital of the city. The decision was taken after a complaint was filed before it by a complainant that a bandage was left inside the body during a surgical procedure.

The respondent had approached the State Consumer Commission against the decision of District Consumer Forum, Prayagraj holding the decision of District Consumer Forum as justified. There is a clear cut case of negligence in the operation of the patient, it noted.

In March 2007, Ranjit Singh of Fatehpur underwent a thigh operation from Dr. KK Singh. The infection was caused due to the bandage at the place of operation. Dr. KK Singh, being a government doctor, did the operation in a private hospital
