Congressman Calls Atique Ahmed A Martyr, Seeks Bharat Ratna For Him, Party Expells Him For Six Years

Prayagraj, April 19 (TNA) In a bizarre development, a corporator candidate of the Indian National Congress (INC) in Prayagraj on Wednesday called gangster-turned-politician Atique Ahmed, who was recently killed along with his brother Ashraf, a “martyr” and went on to demand that he be conferred the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

In a viral video that is doing the rounds on the social media, Congressman Raj Kumar aka Rajju Bhaiyya, who has been fielded by the Congress in the forthcoming civic body elections, is even seen putting an Indian tricolour on the grave of Atique Ahmed at the Kasari Masari graveyard where he was buried on Sunday. He also can be seen in the video saluting the grave of the slain mafia.

A red-faced Congress leadership, as soon as the video went viral, expelled its leader from the party for six years. However, by then, it seems the damage had been done as social media users slammed the grand old party for siding with criminals. The Prayagraj police has lodged an FIR against Raj Kumar and has taken him into custody.
