Congress Stalwart, Gandhi Family Loyalist Mohsina Kidwai Passes Away at 94
Noida, April 8 (TNA) Mohsina Kidwai, a veteran Congress leader and former Union minister, passed away on 8 April 2026 at the age of 94 in a hospital in Noida after suffering from age‑related ailments. She was a prominent figure in Indian politics for several decades, closely associated with the Indian National Congress and the Nehru–Gandhi family.
Kidwai served as a Union minister in the governments of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, handling several important portfolios including Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Culture. She was elected to both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at different times and also held key organisational roles within the Congress party.
Born on 1 January 1932 in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, she was educated at Aligarh Muslim University and entered politics in her late twenties. Over the years, she became known for her moderate, inclusive style and for mentoring younger leaders, leaving behind a legacy of long‑standing public service and commitment to secular politics.
