Case Of Medical Negligence Registered Against Lucknow's Chandan Hospital

LUCKNOW || After inordinate delays, a case was finally registered against the Chandan hospital in the state capital, police said on Friday. Based on the complaint of Barabanki's special judicial magistrate Akhilesh Kumar Asthana, the case was registered under sections 304 (A) and 15 (3) of the Indian penal Code (IPC) at the Vibhuti Khand police station in Gomtinagar.

The FIR names the director of the hospital, the chief medical superintendent, Dr Anurag Srivastava, other doctors and employees of the hospital. The complainant has accused the Chandan hospital of medical negligence which eld to the death of his wife Vibha Asthana in February.

According to information available, Vibha Asthana was admitted to the hospital on February 9, 2020 and died during treatment on February 16. After a prolonged legal battle, the FIR was finally registered against the multi-speciality hospital on Friday.

The hospital is already facing lots of controversies owing to its high cost of treatment, patronage by politically high n' mighty and for giving false test reports of non-COVID patients.
