Book On Legendary IPS Officer BS Bedi Released

Lucknow, March 5 (TNA) A book on decorated IPS officer BS Bedi has been released with an idea to give his fans, followers and even the uninitiated a peek into the life and times of the legendary Indian Police Service officer. The book- “A Life Uncommon – B.S. Bedi” authored by Dr. Preeti Singh was released earlier this week at Kerala House, New Delhi by Kerala Governor Arif Mohd Khan.

The book is a compilation of Bedi’s personal and professional experiences, ut together by his daughter Preeti Singh. Bedi, a 1961 batch Indian Police Service officer served with great distinction in various challenging postings within and outside Uttar Pradesh and is considered one of the most dynamic and legendary officers of his time.

Bedi proved his mettle as an outstanding, fearless and honest officer, who due to his balanced and effective style of policing, was respected both in the political as well as bureaucratic circles. He earned deep respect of his police force as well as the public wherever he served.

He was selected for two Inter State deputations- first as D.I.G. Jalandhar Range in 1985 during the height of militancy in Punjab, and then in 1992 as D.G.P. Jammu and Kashmir where he was given the responsibility of tackling the grave situation arising out of uncontrolled militant activities.

After his police career Dr. Bedi served as Member, U.P. Public Service Commission and thereafter returned to the world of academics. He has fulfilled his long cherished dream of research in English Literature that has earned him a Ph.D. degree followed by the coveted D. Litt degree. He is currently residing in Ghaziabad.
