Bogus Input Credit Tax Evasion Worth Rs 95.41 Crore Unearthed In UP

Lucknow, Sep 16 (TNA) In the ongoing campaign against GST evasion in Uttar Pradesh, the State Tax STF team on Thursday unearthed bogus Input Tax Credit (ITC) worth Rs 95.41 crore on the basis of forged documents. This is the first case of fraud, in which 26 registrations of GST were obtained by the traders involved in the racket on the basis of same mobile and fake rent agreement.

Arvind Kumar, in-charge of State Tax STF, who led the action to prevent tax evasion, said that 39 of UP, 50 of Delhi, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, 1-1 of Karnataka, 5 of Rajasthan were involved in the racket of taking fake ITC claims.

A total of 105 supplier traders, including 2 traders from Maharashtra, have received irregular ITC of Rs 95.41 crore by showing a turnover of Rs 542.41 crore on the basis of forged documents.

He said that during the investigation it was found that 417 traders from 9 states have been given the benefit of bogus ITC by these traders who have registered GST on the basis of fake rent agreement.
