BJP-Congress Supporters Come To Blows In Pratapgarh, MP’s Car Damaged

Pratapgarh, Sep 25 (TNA) BJP and Congress supporters came to blows with each other in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday and the violent mob attacked the vehicles of the motorcade of BJP MP Sangam Lal Gupta, who fled the scene of the violence and lodged himself in the Kotwali to save his life.

The violence took place during the ‘Gareeb Kalyan Mela’ in Sangipur block of Pratapgarh. Present at the event were Pramod Tiwari and Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’, the Congress legislator from Rampur Khas. All hell broke lose as the BJP lawmaker arrived in a cavalcade, locals informed. Soon both sides started raising slogans against each other.

The situation soon spun out of hands as a violent scuffle broke out. Supporters of former Rajya Sabha MP and veteran Congress leader Pramod Tiwari are reported to have attacked the fleet of the BJP MP and battered the vehicles with sticks.

Since the Congress supporters outnumbered the BJP supporters, the scene turned worse and stones were pelted from both side and the Fortuner car of the BJP MP was damaged. A police sub-inspector who reached the stage to clear the crowds was also reportedly attacked. Both sides have complained against each other.
