Barabanki Road Mishap: PM Modi Dials Yogi, Announces Financial Assistance

Lucknow, July 28 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning dialled Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath after the road accident in neighbouring Barabanki which killed 18 persons.

According to a state government spokesman, Modi was brief about the rescue and relief operation undertaken by the Barabanki police.

He also enquired about the state of those injured in the accident wherein a truck rammed into a stationary bus headed for Bihar. While some passengers were killed, labourers sleeping on the roadside were also mowed by the speeding truck.

Chief Minister Adityanath has also expressed his condolences on the loss of lives and has direct the Barabanki district officials to provide all possible help to the bereaved families and give best medical care to those injured, additional chief secretary (Home) Avanish Kumar Awasthi informed.

PM Modi has also announced an ex-gratia of Rs two lakh each from the PM relief Fund to be next of kin of those who died in the tragedy and Rs 50,000 each for those who have been injured. The bus was headed to Bihar from Haryana.
