Azamgarh Police Raids Illicit Liquor Manufacturing Unit, Stickers Of Branded Companies Seized

Azamgarh, July 28 (TNA) The Azamgarh police raided an illicit manufacturing unit in a village on Wednesday. Here, hooch, packed into bottles and stickers of popular English liquor brands were pasted and then sold in open market.

Five persons, including a woman have been arrested and101 boxes of 'branded' spurious liquor, state-of-the-art equipment for making liquor, 800 litres of liquor, branded bottles and lids etc. were recovered by the Police.

In 2009, a dozen people died after consuming spurious liquor in Irni village of Bardah police station area, while many people lost their eyesight. After this, the police took action against the liquor mafia on a large scale. After this, it was claimed that this area was freed from illegal liquor business, but once again after 12 years in the police raid in Fatuhi village of the same police station area, has sent shock waves in this region.

Superintendent of Police Pankaj Pandey informed that Bardah police station in-charge Vinay Mishra had raided the liquor factory. The people arrested are being interrogated for any further leads on people behind the illegal trade.
