Azamgarh Hooch Tragedy: Prime Accused Mohammad Nadeem Injured In Police Encounter

Azamgarh, February 24 (TNA) The prime accused of the recent hooch tragedy in Azamgarh, Mohammad Nadeem was injured in a police encounter on Thursday, police said. He carried a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. Police teams have been conducting raids across the district in search of the 11 accused who were on the run.

Ahraula police station in-charge Sanjay Singh on a tip-off that Mohammad Nadeem, was going from Durvasa Dham towards Sakatpur on foot intercepted him and as he tried to flee he shot at the cops and was injured in retaliatory fire by the police.

He has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Police have recovered pistol and cartridges from the possession of the injured liquor mafia. Reward has also been announced on Nadeem's four brothers.

Superintendent of Police Anurag Arya said that after raiding the luxurious house located in Rupaipur, the house of the injured liquor mafia Nadeem, illicit liquor and liquor making equipment worth about Rs 35 lakh was also recovered along with fake cough syrup.
