As People Battle Oxygen Shortage, Scarcity Of Beds, UP BJP Chief On A Sit-in Against Post-Poll Violence In West Bengal

Lucknow, May 5 (TNA) At a time when hundreds of people are dying due to Coronavirus across the state and the state government is being slammed left, right and centre for absence of hospital beds, shortage of oxygen and scarcity of life-saving drugs and injections, the president of the BJP state unit, Swatantra Dev Singh on Wednesday staged a sit-in!

And believe it or not, the chief of the ruling party was protesting against the post-poll violence in far-off West Bengal, where his party was humiliated at the hustings by the TMC of Mamata Banerjee.

As Singh posted his picture on the micro-blogging site Twitter, sitting on a wooden cot, with BJP's symbol in the backdrop, he came under heavy fire on the social media.

UPCC chief Ajay Kumar Lallu, slammed his BJP counterpart, saying that this insensitivity was the height of arrogance as people were dying in UP but the BJP was still hanging on to West Bengal. "Please see around you, people are dying all-around...do something for them and then do all this", he added.

His close aides defended Singh, saying that the protest was part of a nationwide progarmme ordered by the central leadership of the BJP. Not withstanding this, people called the BJP chief insensitive as many of their own party leaders and workers, alwmakers, minister have died due to COVID.
