As Corona Situation Turns Precarious In UP, High Court Suggests New Measures

Lucknow, April 6 (TNA) With the situation of the Coronavirus pandemic turning precarious with every passing day as the second wave has hit the state, the Allahabad High Court (HC) on Tuesday intervened into the matter and suggested a slew of measures to the state government.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Govind Mathur, while hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) suggested that the government explore the possibilities of mass vaccination and night curfew in the state. It also said that the government must ensure the mandatory wearing of masks, no crowding at public places and at evening events. Adherence to the Corona guidelines and protocol.

The HC also said that the state government must ensure that there is no crowding during the nomination process for the Panchayat Elections and mandatory COVID test of class Xth and XIIth students. Uttar Pradesh reported almost 6000 cases in the last 24-hours and 30 deaths. Lucknow with 1100 plus fresh cases, Kanpur with 300 plus and Prayagraj with 700 and more cases has set alarm bells ringing in the state government.
