AMU Fares Well In Higher Education Ranking

ALIGARH || Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) continues to celebrate the centenary year by upping the ante in both national and international rankings across a variety of subjects. In the recently announced results of The Times World University Rankings 2021, AMU has been rated as the second best among all Indian institutions and universities in life sciences, third in social sciences, ninth in physical sciences, sixth in the clinical and health category, ninth in engineering and fifteenth in computer science.

AMU secured top spots in six disciplines this year compared to four disciplines in the 2020 rankings. "Being ranked in six disciplines in 2021 rankings is a clear indication of all round improvement," said AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor expressing satisfaction over the academic performance in the university.

He attributed the achievement to high-quality teaching, relevant and focused research of the highest quality and improved perception of the university, and hoped to improve the performance in the coming years.

"While there were 23 Indian institutions above AMU in the 2020 results, there are now only 18 Indian institutions above AMU in this year's rankings," said Prof M Salim Beg, Chairman, Committee for Ranking of the University.

He added that AMU bagged the top positions in various subjects and an overall ranking based on parameters of teaching, research, citations, industry income and international outlook.

AMU has been placed by Times Higher Education's latest annual subject rankings which include a total of 1526 institutions from 93 countries and regions ranked across 11 subject areas. This year's ranking analysed more than 80 million citations across over 13 million research publications and included survey responses from 22,000 scholars globally.
