AMU Faculty Gets International Award

Aligarh, June 10 (TNA) Prof Shah Alam, Psychology Section, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) got a joint Research Spotlight Award by the Journal, Cogent Psychology, Taylor and Francis, London for his international research work on ‘A Multinational Study of Psychosocial Stressors and Symptoms Associated with Increased Substance use during the early wave of Covid-19 Pandemic: The Role of Poly Substance Use’.

The study was conducted on 2907 participants from different countries. The results showed that higher levels of perceived social isolation, depression and anxiety during the pandemic were associated with increases in nicotine use.

Also, increased alcohol use was associated with feelings of uncertainty and increased depression and anxiety symptoms.
