AMU Alumni Gets Research Studentship At Top British Varsity

Aligarh, May 18 (TNA) An alumni of the Aligarh Muslim University, Abdul Sabur Kidwai who secured first position in BA Hons and MA English, has brought laurels to AMU as he has been awarded a scholarship for a PhD in English at the prestigious University of York, which was judged the 6th best English department in the United Kingdom and in the top ten UK universities according to the recent Research Excellence Framework ranking.

He has previously been awarded the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue MA in Comparative Literature at SOAS University of London. He will work on Urdu, Persian, and English travelogues to Britain in the twentieth century, written by Indian writers. He will be supervised by Prof Claire Chambers, Professor of Global Literature at the University of York.

Abdul Sabur Kidwai's Urdu translation of a monograph by David Lelyveld and Gail Minaulton the founding of the Muslim University was recently published by the Sir Syed Academy, AMU.

Prof M Asim Siddiqui, Chairperson, Department of English in his congratulatory note stated his desire to see more students of AMU representing at the global stage.
