Allahabad High Court Grants Bail To Jailed Former MP Afzal Ansari

Prayagraj, July 24 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court (HC) on Monday granted bail to jailed former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Afzal Ansari. Brother of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, had appealed to the HC for bail. The single bench of Justice Rajbir Singh however refused to stay the sentence while giving its verdict on Afzal's appeal filed against the sentence.

Afzal Ansari had demanded a stay on the sentence and release on bail. The Allahabad High Court had reserved the decision after the completion of the hearing on July 12. Ghazipur MP/MLA court had sentenced Ansari for 4 years in a gangster case. On April 29, Afzal Ansari's membership of the Lok Sabha was canceled due to a four-year sentence in a gangster case by a Ghazipur court.
