Allahabad High Court Directs DG Prison To Provide Security Cover To Mukhtar Ansari While Being Taken From Jail To Court
Prayagraj, May 4 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court has directed to provide adequate security to Mafia Mukhtar Ansari during his transportation from jail to court. The court said that in view of the recent incidents, adequate security should be provided to Ansari. In its order the court also said that unwanted people and the media should be prevented from going near the convoy while coming and going for his appearance.
Ansari had filed a petition in the High Court in the year 2022 through his wife Afsa Ansari, citing a threat to his life. On this petition, a division bench of Justice KJ Thakar and Justice Shankar Prasad directed DG Jail to ensure the security of Mukhtar. Advocate Upendra Upadhyay presented his side on behalf of Mukhtar.
The court has said that Mukhtar's convoy should not be stopped anywhere on the way. It has been said in the petition that the petitioner is apprehensive that he may be murdered while being taken out of jail for appearance. A petition was also filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
However, the Supreme Court said that this matter should be presented before the High Court. On this, Afsa Ansari filed a petition in the High Court demanding security for Mukhtar. On April 29, the MP/MLA court sentenced Mafia Mukhtar Ansari, lodged in Banda Jail, to 10 years in the Gangster Act. Along with this, a fine of Rs 5 lakh was also imposed.
