Allahabad High Court Denies Bail To Former MP And Brother Of Dreaded Dacoit Dadua, Bal Kumar Patel

Prayagraj, March 6 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court has refused to release former MP Bal Kumar Patel alias Raj Kumar on bail. Bal Kumar is accused of fraudulently extorting Rs 65 lakh from the complainant in the name of a sand mining contract agreement.

The court said that the charge was serious enough to impose strict punishment. But after the statement of the co-accused is recorded, the second bail application can be filed after three months.

Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh has given this order while rejecting the bail application of Bal Kumar Patel. According to the FIR lodged by Ramakant Tripathi in Kotwali, Banda, accountant cum accused Bhanu Pratap Chaturvedi came to the complainant's house on 11 October 2020 and said that he had sand. Once invested, there will be profit in future. The contractor will make him a 10 per cent partner. When the accountant went to meet him at the bungalow of the Irrigation Department, he came to know that the gentleman was none other than former MP Bal Kumar Patel.

On the assurance of the agreement, the complainant deposited Rs 5 lakh in Patel's account on 20 December 2017. After this, it was said that if there is more sand, more people will join. Get lakhs deposited from some people also. After this, another Rs 60 lakh was deposited from the complainant. When he did not get any benefit, he asked for the money back and filed an FIR in the magistrate's court if it was not given. Police have filed a charge sheet in the case.

The court said that there is a history of 27 criminal cases against the petitioner. He is not cooperating in the trial. Appeared after non-bailable warrant. The matter went to the Supreme Court. The High Court said that a lot of time has passed and the allegation is serious, hence he cannot be released on bail.
