Allahabad HC To Today Hear Petition Of Former BJP Lawmaker Ramdular Gond Against Conviction In Rape Case

Prayagraj, March 12 (TNA) Hearing on the petition of former BJP MLA Ramdular Gond, convicted of rape, will be held today in the Allahabad High Court. Ramdular Gond has demanded cancellation of 25 years sentence in Allahabad High Court. Sonbhadra's MP-MLA court has sentenced former BJP MLA Ramdular Gond, convicted of rape, to 25 years' imprisonment.

Convict Ramdular Gond, who was MLA from Duddhi seat of Sonbhadra, has challenged the decision of the MP-MLA court in Allahabad High Court. There is a demand to cancel the sentence and release him on bail. The case was registered in Mayorpur police station of Sonbhadra in 2014. Gond was accused of raping a minor girl. On December 15, 2023, MLA Ram Dular Gond was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment.

The court had also imposed a fine of Rs 10 lakh. The court had ordered the fine amount to be given to the victim girl. After the punishment, his assembly membership was also cancelled. Allahabad High Court had summoned the records of the trial court on the last hearing. A single bench of Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh is hearing the case
