Allahabad HC Suggests UP Govt Explore Option Of Total Lockdown In COVID Surge Districts

Prayagraj, April 13 (TNA) With a huge spike in COVID cases across Uttar Pradesh, the Allahabad High Court (HC) on Tuesday stepped in and suggested to the state government that it explore the possibility of a total lockdown in districts where Corona cases have shot through the roof in the past few days.

It has suggested that in such circumstances to break the chain of infection a complete lockdown of two to three weeks was a good option. It has asked the state government to submit an affidavit before it on April 19.

A bench of Justice Siddharth Verma and Justice Ajit Kumar also suggested that open grounds be converted into hospitals and that all enforcement agencies ensure that no one without a mask is spotted on the roads and public places.

The judges went on to say development was meant for people and if people will not be there what will be it for.
