Allahabad HC Stays Demolition Of Jauhar University Gate In Rampur

Prayagraj, August 16 (TNA) The beleaguered Samajwadi Party (SP) Lok Sabha MP Mohd Azam Khan got some relief from the Allahabad High Court on Monday as the court stayed the proceedings to raze the main entry gate of the Jauhar University, in Rampur, which was his dream project.

The HC has now stayed the orders of the district judge and has sought a response from the Uttar Pradesh government within the next four weeks.

The bench of Justice Ajit Kumar passed this order. Till the time the response of the government is not received by the HC the stay will be in place.

The government had ordered the removal of the gate accusing the Rampur MP of grabbing land and alleging that the gate was built on one such land. Azam Khan, though his counsel had pleaded that the gate was built on the land rightfully owned by the Jauhar university. Next hearing of the matter is scheduled in September.
