AK Sharma Cracks Whip, Electrical Technician Of Surapur-Sultanpur Suspended For Dereliction Of Duty
Sultanpur, July 11 (TNA) During his visit near Surapur (Bijathua Hanuman Dham) in Sultanpur district on July 9, UP’s Energy Minister was approached by residents regarding the electricity supply. The Minister, after listening to the issues brought to his notice, had assured them of prompt and appropriate action.
Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam shared accurate information on social media about the district’s power supply on that day, stating that rural areas received between 16 to 18 hours of electricity while urban areas received 22 to 24 hours of power supply. Out of the total 158 feeders in Sultanpur district, only the Kadipur feeder supplied electricity for 15 hours.
After investigation, and in line with the Minister’s directives, Umankar Yadav, Technician at Kadipur Electricity Distribution Subdivision, was suspended for negligence in ensuring proper power supply at this feeder. Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has clarified that reports circulating on social media suggesting only 3–4 hours of electricity in several parts of the district are false and misleading. Electricity is being provided as per the roster in all areas of the district.
"Those doing politics should take the time to watch all videos of the incident and compare them with the power supply records of their own tenure. During their time, if electricity came, it became news. Now, if there's any small issue, it becomes news and it is discussed, accepted, and promptly resolved,” Sharma mused
The Minister stated that technical improvements to feeders have been ordered, and in response to increased agricultural load due to low rainfall, enough electricity supply will be ensured at the sub-station level to help consumers receive uninterrupted power as per the roster.
The Minister emphasised that for the past three consecutive years, Uttar Pradesh has received the highest electricity supply in its history. He also pointed out that peak power supply is 2.5 times more than during the 2012–2017 tenure of the Samajwadi Party. He added that several times higher is being provided compared to the Congress-era. U.P. is supplying more power than any other state in the country, the minister underlined.
He further acknowledged that due to the delayed monsoon, agricultural and domestic electricity demand has surged. Nonetheless, efforts are being made to ensure uninterrupted supply and address local challenges on a war footing.
