Agra Youth Dies After Falling Into Sea in Indonesia While On Duty with Merchant Navy
Agra, July 30 (TNA) Tragedy struck the family of Manish Yadav, a 35-year-old Merchant Navy officer from Sector 8 in Awas Vikas Colony, as news of his untimely death arrived from Indonesia. Manish lost his life after falling into the sea near Batam Island, where his ship was docked for repairs.
Manish, who was working with a Chennai-based shipping company, was returning to his ship from the jetty late Monday night, around 2:30 a.m., when he reportedly slipped from the stairs and fell into the ocean. His colleagues immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to pull him from the water, but he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to family members, Manish was scheduled to travel to Dubai on July 25 but remained on the vessel due to ongoing maintenance work. He had joined the Merchant Navy in 2013 after completing a B.Sc. in Nautical Science. After a brief career break to work in a multinational company, he rejoined the Merchant Navy two years ago.
Manish was married in 2019 and leaves behind his wife Reena, their two children—four-year-old daughter Gargi and two-year-old son Garv—along with his grieving parents. His father, Ramesh Chandra Yadav, is a sub-inspector currently posted in Mathura. The family has travelled to Delhi to receive Manish’s mortal remains, which are expected to arrive from Indonesia on Wednesday.
The incident has plunged the neighbourhood and extended family into mourning, as they await the return of a young life lost too soon.
